Welcome to our website. It will transport you back in time through the 1,000 years of history of the ducal castle of Gavray, a fortress of the eleventh century, a referenced archaeological site of which there are still some remains on the ground.
After a long silence, our team leaves with many projects. These include:
- An update of the content of the website created 10 years ago. Since then, 150,000 connections have been recorded, including 16,850 in the last year alone.
- translation of all its content into English and German;
- The study of a signage project at the entrance to the archaeological site reminding visitors that they are accessing a place of history with all the respect that this requires. This project should include a human-sized wooden sculpture of one of the castle's builders and a wooden panel recalling the main facts;
- a reflection on evolution has contributed to the "Commented Path" installed almost 10 years ago.
Finally, do not hesitate to join us, all goodwill is accepted (membership fee 15 €) or to support our action by sending us your participation (*). Our team needs reinforcements in order to continue to safeguard the remains of the ducal castle of Gavray.
And then, don't forget the exhibition at the Thomas Henry Museum in Cherbourg until March 10, 2024 it will allow you, in particular, to discover 3 showcases dedicated to the castle.
