CHATEAU DE GAVRAY

The association La Loure

The group Joli gris Jaune is produced and distributed by the association LA LOURE. Founded in 1998, the association La Loure has taken up the torch of previous initiatives to collect and promote the traditional songs, music and dances of Normandy. She is a member of the Federation of Actors and Actresses of Traditional Music and Dances (FAMDT) and of the Ligue de l'Enseignement du Calvados.
La Loure has about a hundred members spread over the five departments of Normandy (and elsewhere). Among them, some are musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers, researchers... What they all have in common is the desire to bring to life a heritage, certainly less known than in other regions, but nevertheless very real and worthy of interest.
It is supported by various local authorities (departments and regions) and state services in the region (DRAC Normandie).
The concert that the group Joli gris Jaune strives to share is composed of songs and music from the cousinship between Normandy and North America.  These traditional songs started with successive waves of emigrants to North America since the seventeenth century, and have since been passed down and reshaped on both sides of the Atlantic. His repertoire is a crossover of those collected in Normandy and those transmitted in the various French-speaking communities of North America.
Its four singers and musicians are fine connoisseurs of the musical material of Normandy and North America. Inspired by the sources, the playing practice of the former musicians as well as the style of the remarkable singers encountered in the field, they also know how to take this music elsewhere by creating very singular atmospheres, capable of touching the ears of the most reluctant.
Emmanuel Bouthillier: violin, foot rhythm, vocals.
Robert Bouthillier: Jew's harp, vocals.
Nadège Queuniet: diatonic accordion, vocals.
Etienne Lagrange: violin, vocals.

The performance took place on September 18, 2021 at the Gavray multipurpose hall in the presence of a hundred spectators.
